When a dog comes to stay at the Doggies Retreat we immediately take on a duty of care towards that animal. Before we can do that we have to ascertain as to whether your dog is suitable for Home Boarding or not.
Home boarding is an environment where your dog stays in another person’s home along with perhaps their dog and some others. If your dog is aggressive, destructive or just socially inept it is unlikely that any Home Boarding Establishment will take them.
When staying at the Doggies Retreat we promise to deliver a safe and stress free environment. We also promise to deliver an action packed day full of fun, happiness and enjoyment.
For this to be possible all boarders have to be of the same ilk. One bad apple can spoil the holiday for all others. To make sure this does not happen the Doggies Retreat will not take in any dog without having what we call a welcome day visit first.
We have numerous calls where someone in London for example might be attending a wedding in Shropshire and would like us to take their dog for a few days. They can’t come for a welcome day visit first because its 150 miles away. Regardless of this we won’t take their dog. If we did and it turned out to be the wrong type of dog all our other boarders would suffer.
The quality of stay for our boarders is the only thing that concerns us. We will not compromise this for anything.
Even now after all the information on this website we still have families turn up with what is quite obviously an unsuitable dog. There is no point in you doing this as no unsuitable dog can slip through undetected. You will just be wasting your time and petrol money.
If you have the right kind of dog, a dog that is suitable for Home Boarding then this welcome day procedure is over in minutes. It is only daunting when you know in your heart of hearts that your dog isn’t suitable.
On the flip side owners who do leave their dogs with us know full well their dog is going to be fine and not be left vulnerable to any other unsavoury animal.
If you are considering Home Boarding and you like what you see on this website then please read all the information on our FAQ page before contacting us.
In the most part if you read all that we have to say about Dog Suitability your welcome day visit will be a walk in the park. This being so you will then have found the perfect sanctuary for your dog while you’re away.
You may be thinking "how can they decide as to whether my dog is suitable in just a few minutes" and you’d be right to think that. We are not qualified to do this, we know and understand that. Even though it costs money we enlist the services of a far more able and experienced body to do the decision making.
We have a Distinguished Panel of Senior Judges at our disposal, a panel who undertakes this task for us. You can see them here in preparation for the days first welcome day visit.
If and when you do decide to visit please understand that these are just every day homes running a Dog Boarding Business. They are not Kennels and they are not Zoos. This is not a day out for the family where 2 adults arrive with lots of children in tow eager to see the attractions.
If you need to bring the kids then please leave them in the car. Dogs and excitable children don’t mix. We know this from countless experiences.
We know that all the above sounds very formal but after many years of providing a very special service we know that it’s all necessary. You only have to look through our Videos and Galleries to see what’s on offer if you have the right dog. Your right dog will be with other right dogs and in a place that delivers the best Doggy Experiences Staffordshire and Shropshire has to offer.
Thank you
